Go To Sleep!

Ep 012 – endish

gts012 “endish”

Nothing to see here folks, move along, it’s only the crumbling of time itself. Not that we’d miss it. Look at all the equations in cosmology and particle physics which have time as a variable. They work just fine if time is negative, if time runs backwards. So in theory, nothing really ends, right?

01-01 Henry Burr – Victor 17339 – Last Night Was The End Of The World (1913)
— that’s one way to face the end, his warbling despair translates to any era, it’s timeless.

01-02 Insane Clown Posse – Great Milenko 01 – Intro (1997)
— this and the next are one of my proudest sequiturs, cracks me up every time.

01-03 DOA – Live Free Or Die 13 – Eve Of Destruction (2004)
— the motto of New Hampshire, but they’re from across the border in Canadia. One of punk’s greatest cover tunes.

01-04 Nick Cave – Let Love In 05 – Red Right Hand (1994)
— pisses me off when film or tv uses this tune, they always carve off a snippet to use, because it’s a great tune, but it’s only great in full size, for the ambience it takes time to construct.

01-05 Bad Religion – New Maps Of Hell 04 – New Dark Ages (2007)
— appreciate any tune that manages to use “susurration”.

02-01 Arthur Brown – TCWOAB 06-07-08 – Prelude, Nightmare, Fanfare, Poem, Fire (1968)
— another one that should be taken as a whole, excerpting just the last movement on pop radio is a crime. It’s a great tune, but Fire has much greater impact after the whole piece builds for 6 minutes.

03-01 Squirrel Nut Zippers – Hot 07 – Hell (1996)
— great video for this, and it always creeps me out, that teeth thing.

03-02 Sons Of Abraham & Savior – AOTSDGR OST 10 – Testament (2008)
— great movie, “…And On The Seventh Day God Rocked” is a mock-rock-umentary with very sharp humor.

03-03 Motorhead – Orgasmatron 09 – Orgasmatron (1986)
— inside the mind of a mad warlord…

03-04 Good Rats – Rat City In Blue 05 – Writing The Pages (1976)
— …then what happens to mad warlords.

04-01 Steely Dan – Katy Lied 01 – Black Friday (1975)
— you don’t have any crypto, do you?

04-02 Smashing Pumpkins – Zeitgeist 01 – Doomsday Clock (2007)
— there is one, but it’s been seconds from midnight for so long that nobody takes it seriously anymore.

04-03 Time Zone – World Destruction (1992)
— Johnny Rotten loved anarchy, Johnny Lydon not so much. As time goes by.

04-04 Coven – Coven 11 – One Tin Soldier (The Legend Of Billy Jack) (1971)
— song is adorable, lady singing is named Jinx, how cute is that? But the rest of the band’s stuff is disturbish.

05-01 FourWayCross – FourWayCross 01-02 – Intro-When Will You (1985)
— believe it or not, my 3rd favorite band ever.

05-02 David Bowie – Five Years (1976)
— from a Cleveland show, clever lyrics.

05-03 Bob Dylan – Live 1964 11 – A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall (1964, Philadelphia)
— can you tell me who’ll stop the rain?

05-04 Black Sabbath – Paranoid 01 – War Pigs (1970)
— yes it’s a natural song for set 03, but it has to come here.

06-01 Artefactron – Artefactron 04 – Har Megiddo (2022)
— manos de diablo aqui?

06-02 Black Bonzo – Sound Of The Apocalypse 08 – Sound Of The Apocalypse (2007)
— apocalypse? Sounds like Crimson to me, without Fripp pointillism.

06-03 Omega – 200YATLW 03 – 200 Years After The Last War (1974)
— this was the song that scared the crap out of the communists and got the album seized.

06-04 Ten Years After – A Space In Time 03 – I’d Love To Change The World (1971)
— wow, it’s not ten, it’s 50 years later.
